The Electronic Music Alliance (EMA) announces new 2013 partnerships for positive social change

Welcomes the AFEM as a partner in advocacy for the dance music community

January 31, 2013.  Los Angeles, California.  For immediate release.

EMA has forged two new and exciting relationships that will foster positive change within the dance music community. CharityBuzz, which provides online bidders exclusive opportunities to live their dreams and make a difference through incredible online charity auctions, has partnered with EMA and will expand opportunities to EMA member artists to participate in the PlayitFWD program. This partnership will provide an exciting and interactive fundraising model needed for the expansion of programs and planned community activation grants.  The first dedicated EMA auction with CharityBuzz will launch during Miami Music Week.

Additionally, EMA solidified its partnership with the e-Stewards Enterprise which will strengthen the development of the EMA Ewaste program.

“We are very proud to award EMA the designation of e-Stewards Enterprise and applaud their leadership in electronic asset stewardship” Mike Enberg, e-Stewards Enterprise Director.

Founding Board Member Raymond Stone, CEO of RaveReady says "I think that every company wants to do "good things" but it isn't always easy to recognize the small things we can do to make a big difference.  EMA was able to help me identify several ways to reduce waste and usage within my business.  This of course benefits our environment and is in alignment with EMA's mission.”

Additionally, the Electronic Music Alliance (EMA) welcomes the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM).  A trade organization for our industry is long overdue and EMA believes in the promise of AFEM.

“It was really encouraging to see this global step forward galvanizing our industry and community worldwide.  Networks like the EMA and AFEM serve to unite our community for positive impact, ” said Janine Jordan, EMA Executive Director.

"As the owner of a technology company providing tools to electronic music artists, I feel it is imperative that we give back to our community and society, that is why I became a founding member of EMA. " said Alan Smithson, CEO - SmithsonMartin Inc. and Executive Producer of the upcoming film The Drop: The EDM Culture Explosion.

Julian Reyes, CEO of Keyframe-Entertainment & Executive Producer of the recently released documentary “Electronic Awakening” joined the 2013 EMA board of directors.  “EDM culture is a multi-faceted phenomenon.  EMA is a perfect example of an organization focused on social responsibility and environmental stewardship.  Our members are focused on utilizing the power of our music to champion actual change in the world” says Julian.

"As this culture continues to grow and evolve, we have an obligation to minimize our environmental impact, monitor safety, and make sure our joy does not come at the expense of others. EMA will represent the ideals of our culture and make available to our community and members socially impactful, sustainable and charitable initiatives” says Janine.

Industry-wide, EMA will work to encourage a model of $1 per ticket going to the promoter’s or artist’s charity or charities of choice.  Insomniac, one of the largest event producers in the world, currently employs this practice for its festival ticketing. EMA Founding artist members The Crystal Method have committed to implementing it in their next tour, and one of our other exemplary artist members, 3lau, has already successfully implemented that policy and built two schools in Guatemala.

With the unprecedented enthusiasm and growth of our electronic music community, the foundations and partnerships we create now are essential to a sustainable future.
